More than 25 years of helping parents navigate the challenges of living with kids and dogs, Colleen Pelar has honored her with a sense of humor and practicality, easy-to-implement tips for success. Colleen wants kids and dogs to have happy, healthy relationships. To further that goal, she has written three books, Living with Kids and Dogs. , , Without Losing Your Mind, Kids and Dogs: A Professional Guide to Helping Families, and Puppy Training for Kids. So you co-hosts Your Family Dog, a podcast dedicated to helping families with dogs.
Colleen oversees numerous group classes, private lessons, behavioral evaluations, and behavioral modification programs at All About Dogs in Northern Virginia. Washingtonian magazine is one of the best training facilities in the DC area, All About Dogs.
Colleen gives presentations around the country, educating people about how to live safely with kids and dogs. She previously served as an instructor at the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Academy where she taught police officers how to interact with the many dogs they encounter on the job.
An active member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), Colleen regularly attends dog-training seminars and has earned the Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) titles.
Colleen is also proud to be a Family Paws Parent Education presenter offering Dogs & Storks and the Dog and Baby Connection workshops to families in Northern Virginia.
